# Dunga Run rally rules

The rules of the Dunga Run Spring 2026, a charity road rally starting at Orewa Beach Holiday Park, Orewa, Auckland, New Zealand on 21 November 2026 and finishing in Otahuhu, Auckland on 28 November 2026.

## The car

Your "dunga" must cost no more than $2,000 to buy. It must be road legal: current warrant of fitness, current registration and a minimum of third-party liability insurance, with proof shown at registration. No 4WDs unless approved. Decorate it — the sillier the better.

## The team

Two people per dunga: a captain (lead participant) and a co-driver. Teams are grouped into buddy groups who look out for each other on the road.

## The driving

This is not a race. Obey all New Zealand road rules and speed limits at all times. Carry a radio telephone for convoy comms. Expect gravel, beaches, ferries and long remote days.

## The fundraising

Every team fundraises for the TimeOut Charitable Trust (timeoutnz.org) through their public team page on this site.

## The camping

Teams camp together each night at booked campgrounds. Meals are provided as part of the daily catering fee.
