# Cavallo Vecchio — Dunga Run team #4

Cavallo Vecchio is competing in the Dunga Run Spring 2026, 21–28 November 2026 (7 days, 7 nights), a charity road rally of 2,600 km across New Zealand's North Island, starting at Orewa Beach Holiday Park, Orewa, Auckland, New Zealand.

In memory of Dad who gave us a masterclass in making the most of every moment. Our old-horse Alfa refuses retirement and will be rattling along for TimeOut to help families make every moment count.

## Their story

Cavallo Vecchio is Italian for "Old Horse" - a name that perfectly captures both our team and the car that's carrying us on this adventure.

Chris and Doug have been sharing road trips and adventures for years. They don't need much of an excuse to point a car at the horizon and see where it leads. Jacinda, on the other hand, has always had a love of horses and a special love for one particular Italian thoroughbred.

Our Alfa Romeo isn't just any car; it is Jacinda's first car. It's been part of our family for 23 years and has seen countless memories along the way. After spending the last five years retired and off the road, it has recently been brought back to life for one final adventure. Like an old horse that's earned its place in the paddock, it's not as young as it once was, but it still has plenty of spirit left. The Dunga Run feels like the perfect final chapter.

While we're looking forward to the laughs, the scenery, the inevitable mechanical surprises, and the adventure, this journey is about much more than the car.

Chris has seen firsthand the impact that serious illness can have on families. Those experiences have created a deep appreciation for the work of TimeOut Charitable Trust and the difference it makes by giving families precious time together when they need it most. The memories created through those experiences become invaluable, especially during life's most difficult moments.

That's why we're proud to be taking part in the Dunga Run. Every kilometre we drive and every dollar we raise helps support a charity that gives families the opportunity to create lasting memories together.
