# The Cause — why we drive

TimeOut calls it the gift of time together: a free holiday break for families living with an incurable illness. That's what every dunga on this run is driving for.

## The reality

Every year, thousands of New Zealanders are living with an incurable illness. Life becomes treatments, hospital runs and hard logistics — and the first thing to fall off the list is the family holiday. The money goes to getting well; the energy goes to getting through.

## The answer

TimeOut Charitable Trust connects these families with generous holiday-home owners who donate stays in their baches — and gives the family a break, completely free. No cost, no fundraising hoops, no catch. A bach, a few days, and each other: a chance to rest, reconnect and simply be together, away from the reality of everyday life. New Zealand has more than 50,000 holiday homes — TimeOut's mission is to get enough of their owners on board that no family who needs a break misses out.

## Where the money goes

The Dunga Run is TimeOut's own event. Twenty teams buy cars for under $2,000, drive them 2,600km around the North Island, and each raise at least $5,000. Donations go straight to TimeOut Charitable Trust — the rally never holds the money — and every dollar is tracked to the team that raised it. More dollars, more stays, more time together. Cheap cars. Epic roads. Big hearts.

## Two ways into TimeOut

Know a family living with incurable illness who could use a break? TimeOut stays are free — apply at https://timeoutnz.org/apply. Own a bach? You could give the most valuable thing there is — donate a stay at https://timeoutnz.org/donate. TimeOut Charitable Trust is a registered New Zealand charity.
